Welcome to "The 'First' Place"! Lots of action has been going on during the month of December. We have been flying around the world experiencing Christmas customs in Germany, Ireland, France, Sweden, Mexico, and England. As soon as we get back from Christmas vacation we will experience "Kwanzaa" and also share our favorite family Christmas traditions with each other. What a great time we've had "visitng homes" and experiencing a variety of cultures! Since my mother is from England, we went to my home for an English tea party and Christmas party. After tea, we played and English game, pulled Christmas Crackers and had Christmas dinner. Each one especially enjoyed hunting for coins in their Christmas pudding! The students are each making a notebook to remember their various trips.

In November we put our teddy bears into hibernation. In the corner of our classroom is a large cave that we made to house the sleeping bears. We're hoping that they will be waking up soon so that we can see what condition they are in after such a long sleep! Do you know what happens when a bear hibernates?

I'm hoping that each student has been reading at least some over the vacation. We are continuing to build a foundation for reading so that we are equipped to explore the world of books. I can't wait to dive into January as we forge ahead in the adventure of learning!
